Endings, Beginnings Reviewed by Maxene London

The Premise
Starring Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan, ENDINGS, BEGINNINGS is the story of a 30-something woman navigating through love and heartbreak over the course of one year.  During that time, she will unlock the secrets to her life in a sudden turn of events and in the most surprising of places.

The Review
The story begins with Daphne, a newly single 30-something woman, who makes the decision to have a 6-month period of no booze, no drama, and no men.

After breaking it off with her boyfriend and quitting her job, Daphne moves into her sister’s pool house (I know, who has a pool house?). But it wasn’t long before she seems to give up her job search, and seek the comfort of a man. Or two.

She soon finds herself in a love triangle between two best friends. And after repeatedly telling them that she doesn’t want to be a wedge in their relationship, goes back on her word and sleeps with them both anyway.

It’s the story of a woman with little-to-no self-control, questionable morals, and makes some pretty bad life-altering decisions.

Not only did I find this storyline cringe-worthy, but the ‘artistic’ cinematography was not my cup of tea.

Now, I’m no film-making expert – but it appears that the cinematographer broke some pretty basic rules. I get that they were trying to be ‘artistic’, but for me – it didn’t hit the mark.

The Verdict
From shoddy cinematography, to an unconventional storyline – this was a bit of a miss.
