XXX The Return of Xander Cage DVD Reviewed By Jon E Clist

The Premise
Xander Cage is left for dead after an incident, though he secretly returns to action for a new, tough assignment with his handler Augustus Gibbons.

The Review
From an action standpoint, the XXX films were certainly something rather fun. The original brought the whole modernizing of the Bond film. Making it youthy and cool. Just like a bond film you had big stunts and loads of fun. However, the concept was not of a spy who can do cool stuff but more of an extreme sportsman who gets drawn into the world of international intrigue. I think that is why it was so cool.

It has now taken a very long time to bring the format back and while Vin Diesel is still a huge action star he doesn’t quite have the cool factor that he used to have. For sure the action is still big and fun but does seem a little forced compared to where it all started.

The usual suspects are back and we see the addition of a bunch of new younger characters that help to bring a little of the wow factor back. However the wow factor could have been off the Richter scale, because Michael Bisping replaced Conor McGregor after he pulled out. Now, both are UFC champion in their respected weight class but McGregor is hot property.

The Verdict
It’s not going to win any awards or dominate the box office but it might just be a good Friday night action film at home.
