The Premise
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Buster Moon a dapper koala presides over a once-grand theatre that has fallen on hard times. Now faced with the crumbling of his life's ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory with a contest where the winner takes all.

The Review
Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey), a koala, is an eternal-some might even say delusional-optimist who loves his theatre above all and will do anything to preserve it. He enthusiastically produces what could be the world's greatest singing competition. Once the finalists are selected, Buster encourages his contestants to sing as ‘all your worries go away when you sing.’

Meenah (Tori Kelly), a shy elephant is both Buster’s protégé and his inspiration in this musical. This heartwarming moment is echoed by Johnny (Taron Egerton) making his dad proud and stealing the show, singing something he obviously loves and can actually do well.

From a crooning mouse (Seth MacFarlane) to an overtaxed mother pig (Reese Witherspoon), Sing is a big bunch of fun that keeps you smiling from the auditions to the closing credits.

This slightly predictable but delightful film has some genuine surprises and laugh out loud moments.

Nick Kroll brings a thespian German pig (Gunter) to life with quirky eccentricities; the frog trio has troubles when the lead is described as an intolerable egomaniac; And Scarlett Johansson rocks a punk porcupine (Ash) to life with mohawk spikes.

You’ll find yourself singing the songs from this movie for days to come.

The Verdict
Whatever your expectations of Sing, they will be met if not exceeded by this delightful film, full of the feel-good magic of singing animals.
