Non Stop

The Premise
An air marshal springs into action during a transatlantic flight after receiving a series of text messages that put his fellow passengers at risk unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account.
The Review
Okay so we have certainly grown to love Neeson in action roles. Taken created this tough as good guy who’ll be ready to do whatever it takes to win. A role that has translated into a whole pile of other films playing off this persona. We loved him in Taken, The Grey and we tolerated him in Unknown and Taken 2 however are we ready for another outing in this format?

Non-Stop is pitched as a thriller with a few twists and turns that will supposedly keep you on the edge of your seat. For the most part it certainly does that, however there is also enough cheese and predictable moments to kind of pull it back down to an average film. Sure it is still quite entertaining and is still a fun watch, however I guess that the wonderful package that was the original Taken has kind of set a high bar for Liam Neeson centred thrillers.

Being that this film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the guy who brought us Unknown, House of Wax and Orphan I guess we should have expected something that would promise much and deliver partially. In fact think about it, this is the guy who thought why not cast Paris Hilton into a key film role. Surely not because of her acting skills but more for her fame and pulling power. Everyone wants to see a train wreck. Okay it certainly sounds as though I am slamming this film however I have to say that overall I enjoyed this film for what it was and therefore making it worth a nosey.

The rest of the cast does a solid job at keeping you guessing who is the mastermind behind this terrorist activity and I guess this is the redeeming factor here.

The Verdict
A good-enough thriller that could have been so much better and yet still a good night’s entertainment if you set your expectations lower.
